Be careful what you wish for

I have been wishing for a nice snow that would be pretty for taking pictures. Well, tomorrow it might happen and I don't want it then. I'm registered with Nicholas Lodge for a cake class on Friday. I'm going to attempt to get to Atlanta before the snow hits too much so I will at least get to take the class. Hoping to meet up with Shanna and Cindy for dinner. Guess we will see depending on the weather.

I really never believe the weather forecasts too much anyway. Maybe they are wrong. I'm sure people are already buying gallons of milk and many loaves of bread. You must stock up, especially if we get that 1" they are predicting. Schools will probably be cancelled.

Hoping for a good trip to HOT-lanta this week.

Baby it's cold outside

January has started in a cold way here in Chattanooga. We could at least have a little snow if it's going to be so cold.

Still working on getting Christmas put away and as always trying to organize and clean out. Pantry needs more attention. I just found a package of muffin mix that expired in 08. Must not have checked those dates lately. That is one of my resolutions to be more frugal on food - being careful on buying things and using them, esp meat and produce. These are too expensive to waste.

Looking forward to my couple of days in Atlanta next week and meeting up with Shanna and Cindy. My cake class will be awesome too.

A New Year

2010 - doesn't seem like too long ago this would have been a date out of the Jetson's - very futuristic (Is that a word?)

This is always a time to reflect and refresh. I think about 2 family members lost, Harold and Gary, a father and son, my uncle and cousin. But new family members gained - Mary Ruth. Also, another one, little Mason, due anytime now.

I'm hoping to use this blog as my journal - I tried a written journal a couple of times, but that just didn't work for me. I would love to add other family notes to this also if you let me know and leave comments.

I started out today putting out my snowman dishes. I haven't done this for a couple of years and truly have missed changing out my dishes with seasons. Also, I made clam chowder. This was always one of my Aunt Mega's yearly traditions. I usually do it for Christmas Eve, but we were gone so it sounded so good. Maybe a new tradition for my family.

Monday I will be working permanently instead of just "temp". Seems just a litle more secue to me. I love the job and that means so much these days.

Hope the family and friends will "follow" me on this.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

It's just next week

Can you believe the time is almost here?

There are so many great door prizes and raffle items (you can have a chance to win more by doing a lot of the items as raffle items instead of auctions).

There's still the grand prize worth at least $150 to one lucky attendee.

Registration starts at 9:45 so you can be ready to start cropping at 10. Bethany will be there offering massage for $1 per minute, with all of this being donated also.

You will be greeted by coffee and Krispy Kreme dougnuts, lunch by Olive Garden, cupcakes by Gigi's, and dinner by O'Charleys and Wallys. Other snacks and drinks all through the day. Of course, if you have a specific snack or drink you want, feel free to bring your own.

Goody bags will be given to all, along with other little goodies. There will be vendors on site also.

Please contact me at scrapblue@bellsouth with any questions you have.

See you Saturday.

There are still some spots available, so get your friends out that day with you.

Three Things Tuesday

I wish I only had 3 things to do today. But, my three are biggies and time consuming.

  1. Finally get living room back together - painting finished.
  2. ScrapBlue registration form completed.
  3. Standing picture frame stained.

So many more things to do. Recipes to friends, menu planning for the week, appointments to make. These might be done on Wednesday.

What are you doing today?

Three Things Tuesday

I'm a list maker - I love marking things off and knowing it is accomplished, plus you have something to be accountable to. I challenge you to make a list of just 3 things to get done today - doesn't have to be a biggie, but just get something done.

Here's mine:

  1. decide on living room paint color

  2. finalize seating and count for Scrap Blue

  3. clean out my "to be filed" box

Just think, if only 3 things like this get done, how you can feel satisfied at the end of the day. If they don't get done, there's always tomorrow (or next Tuesday). Maybe I will make a Three Things Thursday also. Post here your list.

One of My Happy Places

I love going to Ikea, let me say that again - I LOVE going to Ikea. Seems like there is always something new to give you ideas. This place has made me go a little outside of my normal decorating box - more contemporary and streamlined. I use to be, and still to a point, you can't have too much in decorating, but you can.
